OA Dr. Alexis Freitas, F.E.B.S., specialist in general surgery, senior surgeon, European specialist in coloproctology, attending physician at the Vienna Private Clinic, attending physician at the Evangelical Hospital, senior physician at the Göttlicher Heiland Hospital

My medical focus

As a European specialist in coloproctology (F.E.B.S. – Coloproctology), I focus on the diagnosis and treatment of anorectal disorders such as hemorrhoids, fissures, fistulas and faecal incontinence. I am aware that many patients hesitate for a long time before seeking medical help due to shame. However, simple, non-surgical measures are often sufficient to alleviate or resolve symptoms.

I regularly lead international workshops and training courses on the diagnosis and treatment of anorectal conditions and am committed to sharing my expertise with colleagues from Austria and abroad.

My work combines both established and modern, innovative techniques, always aiming for individualized solutions – preferably using minimally invasive approaches, even in complex cases.

In addition to coloproctology, minimally invasive surgery (laparoscopy) has been a core part of my practice since the beginning of my surgical training.

Additional areas of expertise:

  • Endoscopy: colonoscopy, gastroscopy, proctoscopy, rectoscopy
  • Intestinal and anorectal diseases: Anal fistula, anal abscess, anal fissure, chronic inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), colorectal & rectal tumors, diverticulosis, hemorrhoids, anorectal infectious, rectal prolapse, defecation disorders
  • Gallbladder disorders: gallbladder inflammation, gallstones
  • Abdominal wall hernias: inguinal hernia, umbilical hernia, incisional hernia
  • Stomach Disorders: gastritis, acid reflux (GERD), hiatal hernia
  • Varicose Veins
